Palcomix Writer of the Month - Mukuro

Introduction

Do you like Angels? Do you like demonesses? Do you like seeing them fight and molest one another? If your answer to the last question was an emphatic yes than you are probably already a fan of Mukuro-san's Carnal Kingdom series! His comics are naughty and sweet, and have ranged from straight on sexy orgies to plot-driven battle sequences! Let's catch up with this very intriguing author, shall we?

Hi Mukuro! Thanks for agreeing to be my sixth interviewee!

Hello and no problem! Glad I could help.

When did you first work with PALComix? How did you come to know about PAL?

I would like to say that it's been over 10 years now. Time has flown, hasn't it? I think I was looking for an artist for my site and I saw PALcomix on a site, probably WWOEC or something. When I found PALComix, I knew I wanted to work with them.

What inspired you to write the Carnal Kingdom series?

The Carnal Kingdom truthfully started with the very first commission of Kurai and Etna. I then started to imagine the twins Isadora and Ciel along with them. I decided because I like demons so much, to make my own world (some people like dragons, I like demons). The Carnal Kingdom quickly became my passion, and I have been working on it ever since.

What keeps you going on continuing the Carnal Kingdom series without suffering writer's block or an idea drought?

The Carnal Kingdom is a world. The Carnal Kingdom can easily be a roleplaying game or video game. It is a hub, a world where stories can easily come from. I can easily make a story for the world because of this, and the world being a hub allows for many stories to spring forth.

Are the 4 demon girls (that are with the demon lord) based off of any existing girls or are they original characters?

Isadora and Ciel are completely original characters. Ciel came first, and Isadora second because I like the idea of them being twins. Etona is based on Etna from Disgaea fame and Kurai is based on Angel Sanctuary's Kurai.

Are there any plans to make one-off stories?

Funny enough, there are plans to make RenPY Visual novels based on the Society of Ecstasy, which are a group of witches that reside in the Carnal Kingdom. I haven't even made the prequel game to their story yet, but I think it will be really fun.

Fans have noted that the Carnal Kingdom went from having a lot of sex scenes in the early issues, to having newer issues (5 & 6 especially) with much of the sex scenes replaced with action. What made you decide to make that change?

That is interesting and I am glad they noticed. The reason why I decided to do more action is that I meant this to be a sustained world with an actual plot. This plot doesn't ALWAYS revolve around sex; it just has a LOT of sex in it. The Carnal Kingdom demons DO have to protect their home from dangers. While they have sex spells and can do such, the sex spells don't work on every being. It works on humans, but not angels, for example. I do my best to prove that the world is not just all about sex, but they have some other big issues that they have to deal with.

This series seems about to end soon, what will be coming from you after that? More of the same world?

Yes, Redemption is finally coming to an end. This was my first big storyline. I wanted to finish this earlier, but it took a while. I am still going to be bringing backstories, more one-offs that focus on just one of the characters. Still in the Carnal Kingdom. Just smaller, character-driven comics.

You chose to make the angels the bad guys and the demons the good guys. What inspired you to do so? Is there any reason behind this?

I don't like Angels. I understand that many people do, and I do not fault them for it. I see Angels as the ultimate subservient beings, and if they try to even do anything on their own, they fall. Demons are free. They are evil, yes, but they are free. They encompass what every man or woman wants to be; as free as bird and can do (ALMOST) anything they want.

Besides, demons look cooler.

What anime/cartoon series do you like?

Cartoons I like is hard to think of. I like Avatar: The Last Airbender (Korra not as much). I like Futurama, American Dad and Family Guy. Not sure what else.

I am an old school anime type of person. I like Vampire Princess Miyu, Bubblegum Crisis and of course, Angel Sanctuary. I enjoyed Ah! My Goddess! when I was growing up, and series like Sailor Moon.

My goodness! Someone who knows those old animes like me! I think we’re soul sublings! I love Miyu! Out of all the fetishes, which ones do you like the most? Is there any fetish that you would not want included in your comic? Why?

Ah, fetishes. I love fetishes. I will say that since the Carnal Kingdom is a world, you will more than likely see any fetish there that you can think of, from the most world weird to the most gruesome. It is a world of sex, so if you can find a partner, you can do it.

My favorite is usually foot fetish. That is the TRUE reason why most characters are barefoot. But you actually won't see many characters giving foot jobs or anything like that. I just like looking at them, so I decided to (conveniently) make the females barefoot in my comics.

I also have, in the last few years, getting into butt play. I am not sure why; I just find messing with people's butts incredibly erotic. And the art of said subject is usually more fun for me.

The one fetish you won't see ME commission is spanking. I am truly not big on it. No offense to those that like it; I just probably won't ever commission it for myself.

I once include your demon prince in one of my stories - as part of the rap battle. How did you feel about that?

I laughed so hard I almost hurt myself. It was awesome! I never thought of rap battles between characters!

Would you like to see others use your original characters in their comics?

I would LOVE to! Maou came to me with the idea of the crossover and I loved him for doing it. If anyone wants to use any of the original girls or boys, let me know!

(I don't think using Etona and Kurai would be a problem since their look isn't originally mine.)

Which came first - the chicken or Colonel Sanders?

Colonel Sanders, of course. He is a god among men. He came down and gifted us the chicken.

Do you have another writer/comic on PAL (not by you) that you really enjoy reading? Who/What was it?

I enjoy Maou's comics. I like them a lot. But besides his, I like your comics as well, MaryBell. They usually have fun plots.

One series that I also really enjoyed was from Baxtus. He did a good job with Belldandy in his comics.

How has it been working with Bbmbbf and the PAL team?

Wonderful! I appreciate the team working with me.

Have you ever co-written with others? How did that go?

I have asked certain people who have created characters in my world and I have used in my world to help me vocalize their characters. I usually will either ask them to give me the dialogue from their character, or I will ask them about their characters so I can write their characters correctly. I do have a few people I work closely with; I appreciate them immensely.

What advice would you give to new people who want to write scripts for PAL?

Be detailed. Hopefully, through those details, you can get the comic exactly how you want it to be. I allow for a lot of leeway with my art; but I realize when I give too much, it might not EXACTLY come out how I want it. I am never unhappy, however.

Any hints on what we can expect to see in the final pages of your exciting story?

The final pages of this explosive story are coming up! I hope you enjoy them. Exciting fights! And a surprise ending! You'll love it, or at least I hope you will!

If you were going to have the demoness girls molest any of the Pokemon girls, who would it be and why?

LOL, I got into Poke Girls for a moment or two due to a couple of artists that did topless pictures of all of them.

I have a thing for Misty/Kasumi because she is red-headed. But I like May/Haruka as well; I think I mostly just like her look. And Iris is awesomely cute.

I like Risa too; sorry, I don't remember her English name, unless it IS Risa.

Do you have a 'waifu' (favorite anime/cartoon female)? If so, who is she?

I was just speaking about waifus. I am probably too old school for the term; I don't consider anime girls waifus. Like I like Katara from Avatar: The Last Airbender. But I don't consider her a waifu. Even Belldandy, who I still like a lot isn't my WAIFU by the definition.

Out of all the My Hero Academia girls, I like Pinky/Mina Ashido. Probably because she reminds me of a demon girl lol. But still, I don't find her to be a waifu.

Sorry if this doesn't help!

Pinky/Ashido IS insanely hot! What is the most important element of a good story?

The most important part of a story, for me, is character development. In my opinion, if the characters are written well and are actually real, believable characters, then you will attract readers to your stories.

Even if your character is a fictional being, like a vampire or something, you can still make that character BELIEVABLE. It's very important for a good story.

Of course, a good plot helps too.

Any last words for your Carnal Kingdom fans?

I thank you so much for enjoying my comics and my characters over the years. I already apologized for how sparse the comic updates are; I hope to change that. I also hope to improve the quality of the stories as a whole. Thank you so much for sticking with me through thick and thin, and I hope we can at least create a few more comics.

Of course, I am ready to keep creating comics, if PALComix is willing to continue to work with me.

Thank you so much for agreeing to my interview!

No problem! Thank you for interviewing me!
